Red forests
An expedition in the Amazonian forest in 1995 inspired a series of paintings that Soazic Guezennec has developed over more than 10 years, depicting forests made only in shades of red. The red jungles evoke a nourishing, enveloping nature which can be powerful and even violent.
Deprived of its green color, it also appears amputated and vulnerable.
Like in many of her later works, this series offers a double reading in which an apparent poetry and formal beauty mask the disturbing reality of an endangered ecosystem.
